High clarity and consistent viscosity for still water bottles.
A grade for preforms and bottles for still drinking water. The key requirements in this segment are bottle clarity, a neutral taste of the water and stable processing on high-output lines. Among other parameters, the industry monitors the acetaldehyde content of the resin for this reason, since it affects the taste of water.
Intrinsic viscosity (IV) reflects the length of the polymer chains and determines how the material behaves in the melt and in the finished bottle. Still water does not need the pressure resistance required for carbonated drinks, so a mid-range IV is used. It provides sufficient wall strength, suits lightweight preforms and does not demand extra energy during injection moulding. Consistency matters most: when IV does not drift from lot to lot, you do not have to re-tune injection and blowing settings.
Like any PET, the pellets are hygroscopic and must be dried before preform injection; otherwise IV drops inside the injection moulding machine. Recommended drying and processing conditions are given in the TDS. If you run a single-stage line or a non-standard preform, mention it in your request and we will take it into account when selecting the grade.
Supplied in big bags and by container; packing and the minimum lot are agreed to match your consumption. Each lot comes with a quality certificate and a certificate of analysis (CoA); copies of the FDA and EU food-contact certificates are available on request.
To get the TDS and a sample for a trial run, send a request stating your equipment and preform weight.
