About the grade

A grade for bottles for carbonated soft drinks (CSD) and sparkling water. In such a bottle the product stays under carbon dioxide pressure for its entire shelf life, so the requirements for the material are stricter than for still water.

Why the viscosity is higher

The higher the intrinsic viscosity, the longer the polymer chains and the stronger the bottle wall after orientation during blowing. For CSD this means:

  • the bottle holds pressure and does not swell when stored in warm conditions;
  • the petaloid base is more resistant to stress cracking;
  • the dense, oriented wall retains carbon dioxide better, so the drink keeps its carbonation longer.

Processing

A high-viscosity material requires thorough drying and precise machine settings: the preform heating profile and blowing parameters affect wall thickness distribution and base strength. Recommended conditions are given in the TDS; when selecting the grade we take into account the preform design, bottle size and your equipment.

Supply and documents

Big bags or container shipments; packing and the minimum lot are matched to your volume. Each lot comes with a quality certificate and a certificate of analysis (CoA); copies of the FDA and EU food-contact certificates are available on request.

Request the TDS and a sample — we will send the documents and a sample for a trial run.
